Practices

Little Waldo Farm operates as a diversified small fruit, vegetable, and tree farm. They are licensed nursery stock growers, selecting plants and trees well-adapted to northern Minnesota's climate. Their practices include teaching gardening classes (in-person and online), supporting pollinators through native plant selections, and offering softscaping services for garden maintenance. They also participate in the Forest Assisted Migration Project and focus on companion planting for home gardens.

Offerings

The farm hosts a self-serve farm stand open seasonally, with products like raw honey harvested from their own bees. They run annual events including the Spring Plant Sale (May 30 and June 6) and a Pollinator Party (June 26). Pre-buy plant packages and gift cards are available, along with softscaping services for landscape design and maintenance. Classes cover topics like straw and hay bale gardening, winter sowing, and growing fruit in northern climates.

Visiting & Buying

The farm stand is open every Saturday from June to October, 10:00 am–1:00 pm at 820 11th St. (Seagren's Parking Lot). Plant sales and events are held at the farm. For purchases not available at the stand, buyers can explore the online shop, which includes plants, gardening tools, and honey. The farm also partners with the Clover Valley Farm Trail for seasonal access.

Community Focus

Education is central to Little Waldo Farm's mission. They offer outreach programs, farm tours, and classes through a hybrid model (Zoom and in-person). As a Certified Pollinator Steward, the farm emphasizes creating pollinator-friendly habitats in gardens and landscapes. Their work extends to community engagement, with programs designed for students, families, and local groups.
