3 Birds Berry Farm uses pesticide-free, organic farming methods across over 6 acres, with blueberries as the primary crop. Berries are organically fertilized and available for U-Pick harvests. The farm prioritizes accessibility, offering ADA-compliant facilities including an accessible porta potty, parking, and gravel paths for blueberry picking (availability depends on season; contact ahead for updates).

Offerings

The farm offers blueberries (mid-June to August 30), blackberries (July), and raspberries (red and golden, late July to August 30). Pickers can harvest in volume, with pricing at $3.00 per pint or a $20/gallon discount (8 pints per gallon). A reusable bucket costs $1.75 per person.

Visiting

Located 7 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia Tech, and 20 minutes from Radford University, the farm is accessible via map and aerial view on their website. Visitors are asked to call (540) 552-4195 ahead of time for current picking hours and conditions. The farm prohibits dogs and requires closed-toe shoes for safety.

History

The farm operated as Crow’s Nest U-Pick Berries for over 30 years before becoming 3 Birds Berry Farm in 2011. Bill, Irene, and Lilly manage the property with a passion for berries and a commitment to sustainable practices.

How to Buy

Payment is accepted via cash, good checks, or Venmo (no card readers). Pickers are encouraged to sign up for weekly updates via email or follow the farm’s Facebook page for announcements. Berry care guides are available on the website for post-harvest tips.
