I've been going there for years. What sets them apart from the rest is that I've been looking for their stuffed chicken breast for some time. I asked if they stopped making them and they said they didn't often because of lack of demand. One of the butchers asked which one I was looking for. I said I like the broccoli stuffed one as a treat once in a while. He started looking around and once he knew he had everything he needed, he asked how many of them I'd like, and then asked if I could give him 20 minutes to get them done for me. What excellent service. I don't typically buy my meats from anywhere else!

I ordered a side pork with skin on for a particular cook I was planning. Picked it up and was charged quite a bit more than quoted. I didn't notice this until I made my HR drive home. My fault. Found out when I thawed it out, it didn't have the skin on. I chalked it up as a learning lesson. I returned to get some ribeye cut extra thick. I learned from that experience that they are not a meat market that takes pride in quality. One of the 3, 2in thick steaks looked like a toddler cut it. It was an inch thick one one end and two inches thick on the other. The other two steaks were pretty chopped up as well. One would think that $84 for three steaks, they would have taken better care when cutting them. I most likely will never return and keep my business at Hurons Finest in Bad Axe

I love their ground chuck, best I have ever had, but the service at the meat counter very poor. Went in Wednesday, three people back there, but only one helping customers. One too busy preparing meat and one hiding in the back. Three customers waiting finally the one in the back came out of his hiding place. Not the 1st time this has happened. Someone needs to tell them customers come first

The customer service is exceptional. I wanted a combination roast and they did not have any made up but put one together for me in a matter of minutes. The roast was very tender and tasty. I also purchased fresh sweet corn which was very sweet and tender. Plan on returning very soon. .

Nice and clean. Seems like they have a smaller selection than they used to have. Polite and friendly. I remember this store when it was called the Fruit Market, many years ago. The Meat Market is a long time staple in the community. It provides the best , fresh meat you can find. In a time of Big box stores it is so nice to still have the personal touch of local friendship.

Admittedly, I didn't know what to think of these guys at first. I had to warm up to them I suppose. They go out of their way to get me whatever it is that I want. You just have to be friendly and ask nicely. I know that seems like a wild idea but with new management, outgoing staff and willingness to help, this place is going to be 10 stars before ya know it. Happy to have such a business in Caro. I hope it stays around and continues to improve perpetually.

I mean good food most of the time but the red headed lady has always been rude but this time I’m really not happy I have COPD and the order for masks does require you to wear one unless medically unfit. And the same order states that they have to make accommodations for people like that. Ultimately take my order at the door or something BUT this time I also seen a few flies flying around and a couple on the steaks so leavings bad review.

Sure there are other options in town. Wally World, VG’s, and Save-a-Lot all wish they had a meat counter like the Thumb Meat Market. Sure the kids behind the counter are young, but owner Lee has them well trained. Their bacon breakfast sausage and brats made in house are not to be missed, but everything in their case is great. Do yourself a favor and stop by this local gem.
