Three Six General is a local farm and market that focuses on providing high-quality, locally sourced meats and produce, along with delicious sandwiches and BBQ specials. They offer a variety of meat products, including brisket, pastrami, and sausage, and are known for their exceptional customer service and flavorful food. The business operates both at farmers markets and has a brick-and-mortar location in San Marcos.
This shop had a booth at the Barton Creek Farmers Market in Austin, and it was a lovely experience! You could smell the bbq from booths away, and people were walking around with beautifully made pastrami and brisket sandwiches. The actual vendors were super sweet and took their time with each customer. Absolutely loved the butcher working on the sandwiches! I got everything on my sandwich, and the gluten free bread held all the juice and sauce so well! Definitely cannot wait to go to the brick and mortar store!
I’ve been coming every single time I visit San Marcos. Stopping by on a Saturday for their BBQ specials is a pleasant reminder that great BBQ is everywhere in Texas. But, for lunch I always grab the pastrami Ruben.
Was looking for a good meat market in town. Spent $22 on a frozen chicken a while back. Thawed it out to find out it was bad. The smell was horrid. I called the market and asked for a refund or replacement. They said the manager would call back but never did. I'm sure their meats are good but not spending anymore money there. I cant afford to go to meat markets often and as a single mom providing with only one income I didn't feel that was the right way to run a business.
There is no better feeling than when you come to a local shop that treats you well and has killer food. If you’ve never had that feeling then you need to come here. Locally sourced meat and produce. To die for sandwiches all week. Killer bbq on Saturdays. (Try their chicken salad before they sell out - it goes out fast) Sure, if you want to drive through Austin traffic I’m sure you can find comparable BBQ at a place packed to the brim - by all means go ahead. Why go anywhere else when there’s good BBQ here in town? I’ve been to Bill Miller’s and Black’s BBQ in San Marcos. Forget about them. I wish I had spent that money here. When you come here the food is fresh and the flavor is REAL. Just ask their knowledgable staff about their product and let your stomach do the rest. I RARELY leave reviews but this place deserves the love.
First time visit. The pastrami sandwich was incredible! I would put it up against any NY deli! Rich, flavor, just the right amount of mustard. Nicely toasted bread, not soggy. Will be back. Want the Ruben next.
I have loved her for 10 years and I never heard of this place! I’m glad I came in! The chicken salad sandwich was DELICIOUS but there’s no seating inside. You can sit outside and eat! EVERYTHING there is local! Juices were yummy too! Their meats are also local. They have beef tallow too!!! I will definitely come back! Saturdays are BBQ too! Go early bc they sell out quick!
I’m a total pepper head and obsessed with hot sauces 🔥 One of my absolute favorites is from 36 General—it’s not spicy, but the flavor is next-level. They had a booth at the New Braunfels for Farmers Market this weekend, so of course I had to stop by and grab my sauce! The guys working the stand were amazing—super kind and welcoming. I hadn’t ever tried their meat offerings so I had to sample their brisket, sausage, and pastrami… and it was absolute top notch. I couldn’t leave without splitting a pastrami sandwich with my son 😅 Quick shoutout to Cayden and Jengo for helping us pivot when they found out my son was dairy-free. He didn’t get to enjoy the beautiful pastrami sando because it had milk bread, but he was just as happy with a slice of Three Six brisket! Total pros 🙌
I bought pork belly bites from the super nice gentleman at the Budaful Farmers Market and they were INCREDIBLE! They made the best fried rice I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to visit the physical location!
I am so glad that I found this place. I was looking for good pork belly around San Marcos area and was able to buy it in a very good price. Brandon was very kind and explained meat very well. I am so excited to try them out soon!
Picked up some pimento cheese and smoked chicken salad at the Farmer’s Market in NB. Pimento is solid but their chicken salad is the best I’ve had! Plan a visit next time we’re in San Marcos!
