Tried out Wise Ox with some friends. We ordered: double cheese burgers $11.99 dry aged burger $13.99 beef fat french fries $5.99 I personally had the dry aged burger and it was well made. Definitely was on the smaller side. Flavors were there, but was still a bit hungry, so value might not be there. Nothing too crazy with the fries. Minimal seating on site. Crammed parking lot, so street parking could be the better option.

There's a very short list of places in San Diego that have a good, let alone great, cheesesteak. Wise Ox falls firmly in the latter category. Perfect bread to cheese to meat ratio. Greasy? Yes. Healthy? Probably not. Delicious? Bet your sweet butt. The staff is super helpful if you need actual raw meat (to cook and eat, I hope) and they have a good stock of cooking supplies, sides, etc. A lot of great options here - and they have a parking lot! You might be saying: "all this good stuff. Why only four stars?" The reason is simple: this place is pricey. And look, you pay for quality. And SD is pricey. I get it! I do! If possible, this place would've gotten a 4.5 from me (which is the current average rating). The juice is worth the squeeze if you can afford the orange, ya know?

I had the dry-aged. Very good burger but not mind-blowingly great Ironically, the part that was subpar was the patty. All else were great. The buns nice, soft, and a bit chewy. Pickle was perfect. Bacon was delicious. As for the sides, fries as well was nothing special.

First time in yesterday and it is such a gem. They have amazing cuts, seasonings, sauces, a freaking deli! Had to pick up a few sandwich to bring home. The cheesesteak is now my husbands favorite from anywhere else in town. Shout out to Kylie for being so kind and welcoming, even with a full line of people. Best customer service :)

One of my favorite deli places in San Diego. Everything on their menu is absolutely outstanding. You think your ordering a sandwich, but when you sit down to eat your first bite- you will pause, look closer and wonder how they're making it so delicious 😋! I love this place!!

*cheese steak 🥩 sandwich and fries are what I ordered. I was expecting to be wowed and ended up disappointed. In full disclosure this is my first time here so perhaps I just got a bad batch. The cheesesteak had a decent amount of grizzle. Not just fat but the hard, thick, difficult to chew fat and it made eating the sandwich a little gross. The bun was thick, chewy and soft it felt kind of like a large hotdog bun. I would have liked to see more like a French roll that is crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. The fries were good but I got the runt end of the potato so each fry was about an inch long or less. For $23 I expected much more. They may be good at other things but unfortunately in this instance they failed. If I go back and have a different experience I will gladly change my review. But just want to advise you if you looking forward for a great cheesesteak I might look elsewhere.

I wanted to visit this place, but our schedules never allowed us to arrive before they closed. However, we found time during the day, and I suggested to my husband that we should go check it out. Their food is amazing, and their French fries are absolutely delicious. We had the roast beef and Philly cheesesteak sandwiches with fries, and it was definitely worth it. I do wish they offered New York-style pastrami, though! :)

If you’re thinking about spending $20 at McDonald's or Jack-in-the-Box, you might as well spend it here instead for much better quality and taste. In my opinion, this is the best smash burger in San Diego. I highly recommend ordering ahead, as everything is made to order, which can sometimes lead to longer wait times. I haven’t used the butcher counter, so I can’t comment on their dry-aged beef or other meat selections.

Everyone should know that this is the best burger in town. The bun, the seasoning, the beef all on point. I’m so happy I tried it. There was no time to be wasted in taking a picture, next time.
