The Dam Ranch

I want to share my experience and hopefully help others before they order beef from this ranch. My husband and I were very excited to get cuts of beef from a local farm. The point of us getting the meat in bulk was to save money at the grocery store. We eat a lot of beef and have slow smoked a lot of meat on our Trager. We got an 1/8 of a cow, it was easy to order and the owner was communicating with me via email giving me updates so that part was fine. We did everything to tenderize the meat, marinate, using a meat tenderizer, we cooked it low and slow and all the meat was tough. Nothing but the ground beef was edible. We ended up spending more money in the long run. Now before posting this review I did reach out to the owner, she said she checked with another person, who is a long time customer by the way, and they said their meat was fine and she was going to refund me $100, I never got the money. My husband and I value integrity coming from the Marine Corps, and this place has none. I do not recommend getting meat from here.

We have gone to Dam ranch for about 9/10 yrs. We had to take a break last year, as life calls for time, things happen. We are excited to reunite with Kathy. Looking forward to cooking and tasting the hard work and deliciousness they grow. The Accurso/Salas Family.

Great meat tried some from a friend and can tell you all these bad reviews are because people don't understand how to cook grass fed meat. 5 Stars all day.

Unfortunately, the beef wasn't good. No one in our family liked it. The butcher who cut the beef also did a horrible job. It was an expensive lesson. We also only got an 1/8 of a cow and we got all of the very cheap cuts. It was a huge disappointment.

Picked up my first order of 1/8 cow the second week in July. So far I've cooked short ribs, sirloin, flank steak. They were all tender and delicious. Ignore the person complaining about her meat being tough, you have to cook grass-fed beef a little differently. Kathy hands out a paper explaining the do's and don'ts. I'll definitely order from her again. I had to wait a few weeks for this order, but it was worth the wait and she was very good about updating me on the status. BTW most beautiful ground beef ever!

Stay away! I’ve been buying beef like this for well over 20 years and this is absolutely the worst ever! The ground beef is rubber and the other cuts, including ALL steaks, are VERY TOUGH and CHEWY. Bought a half cow with a friend and am embarrassed that I suggested they do this with me. The only decent part of the transaction is Kathy did reimburse for the portion of the ground beef, because enough other people also complained, but we’re still looking at over $1,000 down the toilet. I’m also tired of hearing multiple times from Kathy giving links the way to prepare the beef to make it tender. Whether marinating steaks for over a day or anything else, nothing works! Ground beef can’t even be broken up in the pan when trying to brown it. Patties made from the ground beef end up being rubber discs. Kathy stated this has never happened before. However, it has happened if you look at other reviews in recent months. I offered at least three times to drop off samples for Kathy to try (didn’t want her to take my word for it) and she wouldn’t even take it to try herself. Unlike other beef I was proud and happy to serve my guests, I will never be able to do so with this.

The Dam Ranch has been a great experience! We bought an 1/8 cow about a month ago & wanted to wait until I actually cooked with it to review. This is total grass fed, so it is a little different then I’m use too. We are loving it!! They stayed in touch with me. Great communications! I was able to fit into my schedule. The meat was packaged in nice boxes for ease of transportation. We will be customers for life! The following is what I recieved 1/8 cow - 78.5# 20# burger Bottom round roast Sirloin steak - 2 packs T bone steak 1 - Pack Top round roast Skirt steak - 2 Beef brisket Chuck steak Chuck roast Rib eye steak - 2 Sirloin tip roast Stew meat - 2

We ordered 1/4 cow last year and had to wait a couple months, but it was worth the wait. I just ordered 1/2 cow this time. Ignore the other negative reviews. They are ignorant, the owner gives you a paper on how to properly cook grassfed/grass finished beef, and if you treat it properly, it is the best. Even the cheapest cuts of meat have been perfectly tender and so incredibly delicious. I rendered down the soup bones for bone broth and cleaned the tallow to use for cooking up veggies for soups and casseroles. The bright yellow of the tallow is proof of how incredibly high quality this meat is and how full of vitamin A it is. Love supporting this local family.

We just bought our first share from The Dam Ranch last month. We all definitely noticed a difference in the quality and taste of the beef and pork. The flavor is stronger in a good way & I feel better giving my kids quality meats. We will definitely be repeat customers in the future! So happy to have found this ranch!

Kathy, owner and operator of the Dam Ranch was a pleasure to work with. We've eaten several selections of beef from our 1/8 order and all I can say is WOW! I grew up in the mid-west and this is exactly how I remember beef tasting, fresh and beefy. Never bought anything at the supermarket that is as tasty and fresh as this beef. I'd highly recommend this ranch to anyone looking for real beef!!! Thanks Kathy!!!

So here’s my honest review. The two star is for the company it’s self. Was easy to order. Didn’t have to wait a really long time. Price was reasonable. Now far as the meat goes. Almost every single portion of the meat has been incredibly tough. No matter what I did to try to tenderize it. Some of the steaks had way to much bone. With current high government induced inflation. Buying food has been hard on us. Buying this meat was supposed to be a life saver. We’re just a simple working middle class family. So every dollar means something to us. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Venice. We only ate our own cattle. The only single time the meat was ever too tough. Was a angus bull. So I have some knowledge of how the process goes. I was expecting great quality with this ranch. After all read all the reviews. But this wasn’t the case far as quality goes. It’s very unfortunate but we will not be buying from this company again. Every portion of meat is too important to us. This review was carefully and unbiased thought out. I take this seriously. I will not be changing my review. I hope they decide to use better cattle. Or stop giving families who don’t decide to buy a half or whole cow the worst parts. If that was the case.

We recently bought an 1/8th of a cow and we have really enjoyed the meat. We made a roast today and it was amazing. Great beef for a great price too!

I was so happy to have found a place near me that sold grass fed beef. I placed an order, sent my deposit check and waited. And waited, and waited. I have left several messages on their answering machine, sent emails and contacted them through their website and have not received a response. They haven't cashed my deposit check. I am wondering if they are still doing business, if not they should remove their website, if so they have terrible customer service! Am now looking elsewhere.

We had such a great experience ordering a cow share! We drove from Orlando and will definitely be back. The quality is noticeable!

We live in Pinellas County and have traveled here 3 times for 3 different orders in the last 13 months. My wife has noticed a difference. Less hormones, tastier meat.

They mistreat there animals. I know your going to kill all your animals eventually because of ignorant people who can't control there tongue but at least let them live peacefully while there are still alive!
