Schmidt's Meat Market

This is a destination meat store, packed with people on a fall Saturday morning. My husband was looking for steaks, but we didn’t get those, as the marbling wasn’t ideal. What the store specialized in was quite clear: sausage. So much sausage. We did get bacon, though, plus gobs of cheese and even a salsa to try. I made one of the bacon packs the next morning, and the quality is incredible. Some of the best I’ve bought from a store. If I was in the area again, I know I’d stock up on bacon!

WOW!!! If you're looking for a comprehensive meat market, look no further!! The highest quality meat at, what I consider to be a fair price. You get what you pay for. The service is also outstanding! My family will absolutely be returning again and again. I could go on and on about my experience. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

A great place to buy your meats. The cuts and quality are unbeatable. All of their brat flavors are good along with their sausages. They also have a great selection of rubs, seasonings, and BBQ sauces.

Awesome place! Went here for the first time, and we were blown away by how efficiently they keep everything moving. It was very crowded, but there was almost no wait. The selection was huge. We had a gift certificate, so we just grabbed an assortment of beef sticks. Some of the best ever. Can't wait to go back, as we have a list of things to try.

There are so many positive things you can say about Schmidt's that it's hard to narrow things down to a reasonable length. Schmidt's is the absolute best meat market I have ever been to, and I've been to a few in my almost 70 years. There is a reason I travel several hours just to stock up on their products. The selection of meats, cheeses, and related products is awesome, and the quality and taste of everything is outstanding! The store is often packed and busy, but the staff is incredibly efficient. And they are very accommodating - they are happy to slice and package your items to your preferences. Their homemade sausages, hotdogs, bacon, etc have a great German quality for anyone who is searching for that flavor profile. Finally, for any steak tartare people out there, they offer a chopped/ground beef preparation that is absolutely fantastic. Schmidt's calls their version "cannibal" (I've seen similar preparations in Minnesota/Wisconsin/Dakotas called "tiger meat"), and it is intended to be eaten raw. If you are brave enough, I strongly encourage you to give it a try.

Made a trip down here just for the meat sticks. We have traveled all over Minnesota and Wisconsin trying different places and this is our favorite! We had the regular, buffalo blue cheese, jalapeño, chili and hot pepper , flavors. Got several other items, bacon, kielbasa, sausages, and can’t wait to see what other meats that are good. Will be coming back soon to get more to share.

When you walk through the doors it hits you. The smell... the wonderful smell of quality smoked meats and the tradition of delis and butcher shops. They say smell is one of the strongest senses that contribute to memory and this is a smell I know I will never forget. It has been years since I frequented a true traditional butcher shop and deli as my current lifestyle does not include this paradigm. Schmidt's makes me think it should be different. What can I say about this place to express the euphorbia of being here. This is by far the largest and cleanest and most well managed butcher deli shop I have ever been to. Now, I know you're gonna think.. you just haven't been to many. And you'd be right. Doesn't matter. This is my new standard. Every sample they had was delicious and the best of the lot was their cheese sticks. Think Slim Jims but deli fresh and not vacuum packaged. We ended up buying these as souvenirs for friends and family. A much better gift than trinkets and throw always. In addition to this there were 8 other flavors to choose from all at the cost of $1 a stick. Well worth it. Outside of this, the selection of foods was enormous. From fresh to vacuum sealed options, jars of things etc. I wished that I could just eat 1 new thing from the store everyday and I would be in heaven. We started talking to the lady who was setting up the BBQ sauce samples. She was mixing pulled pork which was not yet ready and invited me to try small spoon samples of the sauces regardless. She warned me about the Chipotle sauce indicating that it had a kick, to which I was dubious as spicy kicks' are largely overrated in my experience. I tell ya though... she was right. Not that it was much for me but on the scale of the average eater, this was spicy and wonderful. Also turns out she was the grand daughter of the founder! So lovely to see family run business still actively participated in by the current generation. This is one of those reviews where I am confident enough to say that my pictures will do better than my words. The only thing it can't do is share the fragrances. So... you'll have to go yourself and experience it first hand. I am sure you will not regret it.

Great Meat Market! Always busy....but an employee is always fast to help. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. It's definitely worth the trip for amazing meats, cheeses, and other deli items. The staff is always friendly as well. The store is well maintained and clean.

Fun great place. Very reasonable prices. Old school meat shop smell! Plenty of workers asking to help and take care of the customer.

Love it, great selection. Jalapeno summer sausage and beef sticks for the win. Also tend to get pork sausage and hamburger here. They will slice things up for you like summer sausage at no additional cost. Friendly and helpful staff always trying to make sure everyone is taken care of ASAP.
