This business had a bull loose that attacked a family member. Instead of doing the right thing and giving insurance information they have been ducking and dodging accountability. If they can’t afford insurance, makes you wonder what other corners they are cutting to produce their genetics.

Santa Elena was established in 1959 with the purchase of 987 acres in Houston County, Texas, and 250 registered Red Brahman cattle from the Fondren Estate herd. For the first 10 years of operation, all cattle, with the exception of herd replacements, were shipped to Venezuela. Many of these cattle were used to establish the famous Lecuna Red Brahman herd in Venezuela. Santa Elena expanded during this time, adding 2,700 acres and increasing the number of mother cows to over 450, all produced from the ranch's production. The only outside females entering the herd until 1987 were six heifers purchased in 1961 from the C.E. Yoakum herd. The Santa Elena Foundation herd, purchased from Fondrens, was developed primarily through the use of Estrele and later Arauto bloodlines. Later, Manso-influenced bulls were added to the herd, and the resulting conformation is still evident, as is the uniform dark red color. In 1970, Santa Elena Ranch made VL-branded cattle available to commercial Brahman breeders and ranchers in the United States. Since then, the ranch has enjoyed a reputation for producing high-quality, honestly bred cattle with meaty conformation, which is a powerful influence on a registered herd or commercial cattle operation. Much of the herd's progress and reproduction is attributed to Steve Allen, who served as ranch manager for 27 years. In May 1991, Alfredo and Josephine Muskus became the sole owners of Santa Elena Ranch. The ranch is a progressive operation in all areas. One of the most positive influences on the herd is Sophisticated Millionaire 80/3, a large red Brahman bull who is doing tremendous work for Santa Elena Ranch. Performance records are of utmost importance and are maintained on all Santa Elena cattle. An embryo transplant facility was recently added for use on the farm. Santa Elena is a leading exporter of Brahman cattle, selling animals to over 18 countries throughout its operation. Additionally, Santa Elena has commercial cattle and feeds Red Brahman cattle in the Texas Panhandle. Ranchers are continually impressed with the profits these cattle achieve and the carcasses they produce. As you can see, Rancho Santa Elena has stood the test of time and looks forward to a bright future through careful, reliable, and select production. Our goal is to be part of the beef business for a long time.

The extraordinary experience of our beef and milk ranching begins in 1954 when our founder Don Luis Rodolfo Machado Bohórquez introduced bulls from Don Vicente Lecuna's ranch to the Hacienda El Ebano in the Villa del Rosario Municipality, Perijá, Edo Zulia - Venezuela. In subsequent years, purchases of bulls and heifers from the Santa Isabel and Santa Clara farms of Don Vicente Lecuna continued, which made possible the development of an excellent dual-purpose crossbreeding at the Hacienda El Ebano, reaching in 1978 a milk production of 15,000 liters of milk per day and a batch of 40 steers weighing 430 kilos on average monthly, which were sent to the different meat processing plants in Zulia, Lara and Caracas. The Don Vicente Lecuna livestock farms in Venezuela were developed with various imports made from Santa Elena Ranch, Madisonville, Texas-United States of North America.
