Rhode Island Beef & Veal Inc is a butcher shop that specializes in selling a variety of fresh meats, including beef, veal, pork, and chicken. The business aims to provide affordable and high-quality meat products to customers, with many reviews highlighting the knowledgeable staff and good prices. However, there are mixed reviews regarding the cleanliness and overall experience at the facility.
Very good and knowledgable staff, very helpfull for customer requests. Best and most affordable place to buy meat and chicken in RI. 30-50% cheaper than Market Basket.
Staff was super helpful loading over 1700# of Lamb, Pork and, Chicken. The facility was very hygienic. Slaughter floor was being cleaned as we were paying. Would highly recommend for everyday needs as well as bulk meat....
I would never buy anything from here just simply from the horrific smell that comes from this place. My family lives nearby and dont feel this is a good location at all for a slaughter house! They need to move far away from residential areas!!!
What a hidden gem with Gentleman service!! Rhode Island is lucky to have such a butcher shop. I always leave with a smile everytime i buy fresh meat at very reasonable price. Talking to my African and Spanish Brothers ..Tripe, kidneys, livers Chicken... Free with purchase over 10 lbs Bruh!!! ...not to mention the owner at the check-out is so loving!! Try this joint 100%
Rude and poor service. I respect my $$$ too much to lay it down for poor service. Also unsanitary
How many times does this business need to be fined by the federal govt for violating federal meat inspection regulations before they start complying? Two major offenses in 2023 and 2024 and they still haven't learned their lesson. Very suspect
Just dropped off live stock wish the ramp was lower to get them out of trailer but there great there
Not what I expected considering the reviews. Very dirty, the smell was repulsive and honestly not nice selection. Glad I did not purchase anything, ended up at Central Meat Market in Providence and it was clean and sanitized, did not smell and the meat was displayed quite nicely and their prices were great!
Female manager needs to learn phone etiquette!! I have never been to this business before and was calling for 10-15 waygu steaks... cost yourself big this time. Be more polite and informative next time. Will never step foot in this business now.....
I first went to talk to the owner about wholesale for a small business.RI Dressed Beef was recommended to me. It is 110% the best!!!!!!!! I have raised every breed of livestock so I make myself a good judge after 49 years in the animal business. We tried the rib eyes.......EXCELLENT. We bought 80/20 hamburg that looked like 95/5 but cooked up and tasted EXCELLENT. Then we decided on pork chops.......ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!! Each time I go back, the quality stays the same. The staff is EXCELLENT and have been very knowledgeable when I ask questions. They know what they are doing and I don't buy elsewhere. Why would I? 10 Star Rate.
Not only do they have great prices (who can say no to 10 lbs of ground beef or pork chops, both for under 20 bucks each!) but they were extremely helpful, even recommending a particular type of steak to grill instead of what I had picked out. Plus, free hot dogs or chicken if you purchase something from their meat case? How can you go wrong?? Walked out with 24 lbs of meat for less than 50 bucks. Now that's a deal! (And to boot, the steak grilled up really nicely and tasted great!) Highly recommended!
I've been getting by Beef, Veal and Whole Hogs from RI Beef and Veal for Years. Their prices are awesome, the quality is top notch. Regarding the smell...it does smell but that is what you get when Livestock is that fresh on the premises...it is the smell of fresh blood. The USDA is there on a daily basis doing quality inspections.
Great selection of local, grass fed products. Awesome prices as well as friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be making the trip from MA every time I need to stock up my freezer!
This was by far the most disgusting, repulsive, vomit-inducing establishment I have ever set foot in. I have seriously considered calling the USDA to report this business for non-compliance with their butcher shop. The smell of dead, rotting animals when I walked in immediately made me want to throw up. We had ordered a pig for a pig roast -- granted, I know they have to kill it, gut it, etc, which is not pretty! -- but there was far too much dealt with in an unclean way (and exposed to the customer!)... such as: blood/general slime on the doors, rodent disposal bins in the corners, flies everywhere, a dog licking the guy's hand as he came out of the butcher room... then watching him NOT wash his hands, type on his computer, and go back into the butcher room. All without gloves / hand washing. It was absolutely vile. Did I mention the smell?? I had to breathe through my mouth the entire time to stay there. Furthermore the staff hardly spoke English besides the one guy that helped us. Thankfully I had my boyfriend with me otherwise I - a small 24 yr old blond girl - would have felt seriously uncomfortable in this setting. On top of that there were quite a few people there who looked under 18 working in the butcher room. I will never go back to this heinous place, and hope that this review serves as an appropriate warning to anyone looking to purchase meet from them. The pig tasted good but it was not worth the risk of getting it from such a disgusting place.
By far the best ground beef I've ever gotten! I make the trip from MA to stock up. This place is great, not much for looks but the products are amazing!
I find the prices are very reasonable the very helpful if you're looking for something that they don't have the order it for you I've never had a problem with any of the meat that I bought out of there been shopping there for many years
No recalls here. Nothing like fresh cut meat.
Had to send someone near there for a part and they came back in tears the baby cows were screaming, the place reeked of death. I just don’t get it. But on a positive note I rescued 5 lambs that were headed there and now they live on my farm where they will never have to hear that death cry.
Very clean, no "butcher shop odor". Staff friendly and ready to assist you with anything you need. Definitely will be back!
Great experience & value for money spent. I can bet that there's no other meat shop in the state of Rhode Island that can beat this meat shop. I'm waiting for you challenge, if any?
