Primal Pastures

This meat is garbage. Two buddies and I went in on a whole cow, just under $6k. The steaks are what you’d see at any chain grocery store, thin cuts almost zero marbling (yeah I know it’s grass fed but these cows worked hard for every blade of grass they ate), and we have yet to open a pack of ground beef and not had bone fragments in it. For an all-in aggregate price of about 14 bucks a pound I expect way better. The roasts are good because I can braise them for 7 hours but that’s it. We are thinking about throwing out the ground beef, the 45 lbs we have left because once you damn near chip a tooth on pieces of bone you don’t really want to keep going after that. I saw someone else mention torn packaging and I experienced that as well. I thought we had messed it up when separating our portions but I’m starting to think it came that way. Won’t be doing business with them again, quality just isn’t there for the price. Great marketing though.

Worth the try, good products and stellar customer service. I've been a Farm Box / Large Sampler Box subscriber for nearly a year. In that time frame, I've only had one order goof up (contents of the box didn't match the itemized invoice), -which, the amazing customer service rep, Natalie, offered a refund or credit for next month's box. Another time, I had moved and, while still living out of boxes, realized I needed to pause my subscription because I was eating out way too frequently and I was behind on my meat consumption. I know you can update your preferences in their online portal but I just reached out to Natalie and again she took care of it. -Same with a time I was going to be out of town around box shipping time, just reached out to Natalie and she took care of it, so the customer service is a big part of why I'm awarding 5 stars. Now the products themselves, and keep in mind, this is from a box subscription perspective as there is a nice discount when ordering with this method. The chicken, fish, lamb, and pork are delicious! I am particularly partial to the line caught fish (I am now famous at my church for a Sea Bass Cioppino I brought to a potluck). The ground beef is also delicious. Had it not been for Natalie's great customer service, what would have lowered this review would have been the other cuts of beef. Nothing has been bad and I think really it's a bit more of a "me issue" but for my taste buds, I just prefer grass fed, grain finished steaks over grass fed, grass finished. Cost-wise, last time I did the calculation, it was about the same as shopping similar items at Gelson's/Wholefoods/Sprouts so its more of a time saver with a bit of adventure... "oh, beef shank aka osso buco, hmmm let me look up some recipes". -And, I do like that I'm supporting local/small farmers. We visited for a Friday tour and had a great time! I took my kids, ages 6 and 9, on the You-Pick tour. They loved seeing the animals and being able to eat berries and tomatoes straight from the vine. We also had a sampling of other foods picked fresh on our tour and it was the best we’ve ever had. If I lived closer, I’d definitely be getting all my meat and produce from here.

I attended the meet and greet. Great concept and implementation! I bought coffee, honey and canned tuna, all of which were fabulous. Everyone was very personable, as were other guests.

I really wanted to love Primal Pastures, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t meet the expectations set by their marketing. When my order arrived, some of the packaging had small cuts that left parts of the meat exposed. I reached out to their customer service, and while they were responsive and issued a refund, I just didn’t feel comfortable eating meat that wasn’t fully sealed. I also found the quality lacking. The ground beef had a significant amount of gristle, which made it really unpleasant to eat. For a company that promotes itself as grass-fed and pasture-raised, I expected better. They don’t have any third-party certifications to back up their claims, which is concerning when you’re paying a premium for quality and transparency. All in all, I don’t think it’s worth the price, and I won’t be ordering again.

Folks, it doesn’t get any dirtier than this…Primal Pastures rates only one star due to their blatantly deceptive marketing & sales tactics. Their website states: “At Primal Pastures, we're doing something that less than 0.01% of American beef can claim – raising cattle the way nature actually intended. Our cattle actually live on diverse pastures their entire lives”. But the truth is, Primal Pastures doesn’t actually raise their ‘own’ cattle at all !!! Instead, they are only buying, then reselling beef they’ve bought from cattle ranches in surrounding states, then marketing it as if they’d raised it themselves.

I ordered 20lbs of the ground beef to start. I’m on the carnivore diet. I cooked a package and put it in an insulated thermos to eat later. I didn’t get to eat until 7 hrs afterward. I couldn’t believe my taste buds. It tasted better than any beef I’ve eaten since I can remember in my life. Even after sitting for 7 hrs. Fresh was even better. I’m hooked. Worth every penny. Very competitively priced compared to other brands that are inferior. And having the peace of mind that it is totally clean, organic grass fed and all… you can taste it. The cows led a happy healthy life.

I started purchasing meat from Primal Pastures over the last month and have been incredibly impressed with their high quality products. Everything we have tried has been delicious. This past weekend, I cooked the filet mignons and lamb shanks for my mom’s birthday and they were a hit with my family. A couple of weeks ago, I made the chuck roast and it was one of the best meats I have eaten. You won’t regret your purchase! They have a wide variety of amazing products and the quality is truly superb. Even the customer service is so kind and helpful. Can’t recommend it enough.

PRIMAL PASTURES meat quality was very good compared to the two other services I ordered from simultaneously, however, it was DESTROYED BECAUSE ALL THE MEAT WAS ROOM TEMPERATURE! Everyone else delivers everything frozen solid! There's only two of us so we gave half of the meat away since we didn't feel comfortable re-freezing! I would certainly re-order if they guaranteed frozen.

I placed an order over the holidays and it arrived in 10 days. Pretty great for the busiest time of year. The packaging was well done, meats were all kept at a perfect temperature. All the meats looked so fresh, and the quality is outstanding. I haven’t eaten everything I ordered yet. I froze some to last my family a little while before we order more. What I have eaten has been delicious. It feels good knowing these animals were well cared for and healthy. Having great quality, healthy meats made me even more intentional with my recipes and ensure these meats are cooked to perfection. Feeling grateful for the animals, the farmers and putting love into the cooking process is the best way to live a healthy, happy life and to make a change for the better in our society. I’m so grateful that Primal Pastures offers this solution and makes it so accessible. I will definitely be ordering again and even stop by the farm when I’m passing through the area! I’m lucky to live just a few hours drive away. Thank you!! ❤️

Arrived pretty quick! seems to one of the cleanest meat suppliers I've seen. So far I've tried the ground chicken and the ground pork in my Thai meatballs which was moist and delicious. My daughter cooked the chicken thighs in a braised dish which had great flavor. I'm still looking forward to the Osso Buco and the Lamb shank.

Used to be good. Now they cut their thighs with huge chunks of spine. Very little meat. Never seen anything like it.

Loved it! I got a little bit of everything to test each item. All of it was delicious and I felt great knowing the quality wasn't toxic. The staff was very friendly and showed me around the farm and were able to answer all my many questions about their process. I will be purchasing my meat here from now on.

Waited 12 hours for an order I needed to sign for and I never received it. If i had time to wait 12 hours for a delivery i would go to the grocery store! Ridiculous process. Horrible customer service!

I ordered for the first time and delivery was quick, the meat was exceptional. The organ blend ground beef made the best burgers I’ve ever had. I’ll be ordering again for sure. I also felt like the meat digested so much better than grocery store bought organic. Thx Primal Pastures :)

This is the absolute best meat I have ever had besides a super fancy restaurant! Their customer service is also amazing! I have made multiple orders from them and will continue to order from them! No need to buy my meat from anywhere else when I have these guys.

Incredible meat that I feel great about feeding to my family. I do wish that they would offer free shipping to more states. It is a hindrance financially to pay so much for shipping, but the quality of the product is 5 stars.
