I can't say enough good things about Pete's Country Meats. The staff is helpful, the prices are reasonable and the quality of the meats is awesome. We drive there from Athens to fill our freezer on a scheduled basis. We have never been disappointed in anything we have purchased there, whether it is fresh meats, frozen foods, smoked meats or the smoked bones for our livestock guardian dog. It is quite a drive for us so we make an excursion out of it. As far as I'm concerned, they have a customer for life in us.
Bought steaks, boudain, terraki chicken, sauces, jellies, peanut brittle, jerky,so as and all was great. Best cut steaks in town. Love the owner and staff, very friendly and informitable about sauces, meats, cuts, poultry, and all meat there.World famous sauces sold here, owner and George Jones have a sauce together, and he is currently working on a George Foreman Sauce deal to go along with his world famous grill. Deffianatly worth every penny spent here.
I recently had a cow butchered at Pete's Country Meats in Laretto TN, and the experience was thoroughly disappointing. From the outset, the customer service was abysmal. When attempting to specify our preferences for the cuts, the staff was outright rude. They refused to provide a cut sheet, which would have been invaluable for ensuring our needs were met. Instead, we were only given the option to communicate our requests over the phone, which led to numerous misunderstandings. Specifically, when I asked for 1.5-inch thick cuts, the response was dismissive, with the staff insisting they usually only do thin cuts. The attitude continued when I picked up the meat; the staff seemed put out that I was there to pick up my meats and being generally rude. The meat quality was equally disappointing Brisket: All the fat was removed, which completely ruined any plans for smoking. The brisket was dry and lacked flavor. Steaks: The cuts were bizarre - uneven and tough. They seemed not to have been properly drained of blood, which was excessive. This not only affected the taste but also the appearance and texture of the meat. Fat: Despite specifically requesting the fat for making tallow, none was provided, which was frustrating given the effort to specify this over the phone. In summary, this meat processor fails on both service and product quality. The lack of professionalism, combined with the substandard butchery, makes me strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your meat processing needs. If you value your meat and your time, steer clear of Pete's Country Meats.
The staff always friendly and their cuts of meat are amazing.
Great staff. Very clean. Great products.
Beware if you're taking your first steer here to be butchered. They offered NO guidance on the average thickness/size of cuts, even when we asked for help. As a result, all of our steaks were cut WAY too thin and are now ruined. We even asked for a guide sheet to be sent before hand, but they never provided one. As the "experts" in this area, they should have better advised a new and overwhelmed customer. It was an absolute waste of money considering they offered no advice or assistance when they obviously knew industry standards.
We drove from Danville Alabama. We bought six steaks that were a little thicker than we like, and was not quite sure. But they were absolutely amazing best steak I’ve had in a very long time T-bones T-bone. I am sharing 3-D photographs in big screen, virtual reality> look for me, my name is Peter Host, and they call me Mr. Pete
When ya screw up just take responsibility instead of trying to blame everyone or everything else. It’s not about the money with us, it’s about honesty, integrity and communication and all 3 was not in the picture with our experience this time. Major disappointment!! I don’t want money back and I don’t want someone else’s meat. Moving forward we will use a different processor. Edit: it’s been a few months since this review was made. We have tried to make the best of what happened but literally all the meat that they processed tastes like their place smells. It’s awful! Meat that has since gone to other processors is the way it should be.
Yes Pete's has really good meat, however when store hours say that it is open then people expect the place to be open. I drove 25 miles for them to be closed even the store hours on the business door states that they are open. Wasted time and gas.
Hey everyone, please do yourselves a favor and don't purchase any meat from Pete's Country Meats (meat market) in Loretto, Tennessee. Their meat contains so much fat that it destroyed an entire meal that I spent money on, and meticulously took extensive time to prepare and cook. I tried arduously to tame the fire but was unable to do so. This cost me time, labor and money for nothing but a horrible grease fire, and I have cooked outdoors over charoal in excess of 1000 times and have NEVER had this happen! Please avoid Pete's Country Meats in Loretto, Tennessee!
Great selection of quality meats. Best place to buy meat products. Definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for healthy, game meats! The place is very well kept, you can tell the new owners care about their business as much as the products they are selling. Love the fresh meat from them. Customer service is great to deal with as well... thanks guys keep up the good work
I won’t buy meat anywhere else but at Pete’s Meat. I have been doing business with them along time. They meats is delicious. They don’t add junk to their meats like the stores does. If you haven’t tried their meat before. You need to try it. All their Beef & Pork is so good. Love it
I spent a lil over $100 and absolutely loved every bite. Ribeye steaks were awesome so is the breakfast sausage and fresh bacon are the bomb. Wish they were closer but they're well worth the drive. Better than anything in the supermarket.
Best place to get beef processed that I've found! They do a great job with the cuts, getting them just like you want them. Friendly folks that really know their meats! Buy fresh cuts or have your animal processed, either way you can't go wrong!
Went out a few months ago based on multiple suggestions and what I saw was horrendous. The shop smelled. And not the typical butcher shop smell, but just a stale, not clean smell. The refrigerators were filthy and a few very clearly had mold growing in them, most likely the result of the temperatures being barely lower than room temperature. I saw flies in the display case crawling on the meat, and the meat all looked as if it had been out for much longer than it should have. Literally no body on the staff was wearing a mask, hairnet, or gloves while handling product, and I saw an employee come in from the parking lot to smoke a cigarette and immediately start touching meat without washing their hands. The floor was stickier than a toddlers face on s’more night. Just an overall gross, disgusting, and unhealthy environment to sell or process food.
If you want some awesome cuts of beef then this is the place to go. I've been eating beef from there since I was a kid (40+ years) and they have NEVER disappointed me. Absolutely the best quality anywhere in the area and well worth the drive.
My new go to place. Exceptional service and great products. Filled my freezer!
I was a first time customer. I am so satisfied with their meats. So fresh and delicious. Most definitely will be going back.
All around 5 stars. Good prices. Quality meat. The best customer service. We found our new meat market!
We drove more than an hour to get our Christmas dinner prime rib roast. It was awful. It was gristly & had no flavor. Such an expensive disappointment. Won’t be back.
