My Halal Meat

So just a little bit of a warning, this review might be lengthy! My apologies Short review : Yes! I approve of this meat shop! UPDATE: After purchasing the meat here two times, I stopped going to Chicago-Devon st completely! The meat is excellent here! Best chicken and beef in the area. Very fresh and expert butcher skills!!! A bit about myself, I have been the go-getter of my family since I was at the age where I couldn't even lift 5kgs(approx.10lbs) of meat on my own. I have butchered several animals such as cows, sheep, deer, chickens, rabbits myself in India and USA combined. I love meat and I know my meat when it comes to quality and how to cut it right way and prepare it the right way so it stays soft when cooked and not chewy and rubbery. So just a little bit of my background. Been basically buying meat for the last 30 plus years which is half here and half back home. Now usually I buy my meat from the city for the simple fact that it's cheaper there and no doubt we all are aware of this. It may be a small difference in prices but if you're buying a small amount then it's not worth the drive from suburbs to the city. But if you buy in bulk then sure it comes with a cost of not being so fresh at the end of the month but it's what we do to keep it affordable I guess. So when I was running out meat and wanted to not drive all the way to the city I ordered from here and I was honestly a bit skeptical at first after reading some of these reviews with 1 star and I take reviews to be very well thoughtful and biased. But I decided to take a chance and I ordered over the phone and a very polite gentlemen named Adnan answered and took my order and told me around 45 mins wait time! Acceptable as it's the weekend and my order was a little bit medium size.... I arrived on time or rather a few minutes earlier than 45 minutes and my order was still ready and again he greeted me politely and grabbed my order from the fridge. The store looks amazing and smelled clean and looked very well kept and maintained. I must say it was way better than the city store I go to and here comes the part where I am giving this much details to the review. I was slightly shocked how good the meat tasted. Maybe this might become my to go store starting now as I am very selective of my meat cuts and quality and this place delivered and met and exceeded my expectations! I literally waited till the food was made and I had to really taste the meat before I decided to write the review even though I could just tell the meat looked and smell fresh and I had a positive experience. In fact, I was looking for a reason to take one star away but with all honesty the prices are fair for suburbs and the quality is almost better than the city place I go to! Can't beat this 12 mins drive to the shop from where I live. Thank you for the good experience Adnan and whoever is cutting the meat for keeping it this tight on the quality!!! Update after purchasing several times : Stopped going to Chicago completely now and this is my go to store for quality halal meat.

I have been going to this store last 15-20 years albeit under different management. Off late I see that the chicken that I buy from them, cut, has short shelf life. It goes stale fast cooked or uncooked. This had never been the case till recently. I don’t know if others are seeing the same thing. I don’t know if the store’s method of thawing before cutting, the actual cutting process or the packaging/Storing is the problem. I bought chicken from several other places, no such issue. Such an old customer, debating if I would go there again.

Disappointed with my experience here. I bought beef and beef shank on my recent visit. The beef was charged as 5.47 lb, but I actually received 4.5 lb after trimming. The beef shank was charged as 4.2 lb, but I received only 3.1 lb. When I asked about the difference, the staff said they charge based on gross weight (before trimming fat or bone). They didnt tell me this upfront. I’m sharing this so others can double-check their receipts and weights.

Free hair with $60 purchase. I purchased two goat shoulders yesterday and was very disappointed with the quality. As I started cleaning the meat, I noticed hair on it. At first, I thought it might be a one-off issue, but as I continued, I kept finding more. By the time I finished cleaning about 5 pounds of meat, I had found at least a dozen hairs. This was extremely concerning and made me question the hygiene and processing standards of the meat. Such an experience is completely unacceptable, especially for a product meant for consumption. I would urge others to be cautious and for the store to seriously look into this issue.

This was my first time here, and I’m really impressed! The chicken breasts and ground beef were super fresh, and the prices are very reasonable for this area. I’ll definitely be coming back. Happy to have found a good halal meat shop nearby!

This is my go to place every time. The meat is very high quality. I've got 9 lbs of baby goat shoulder and leg recently and MAN!! the biryani i made was soooo amazing! It was an absolute hit with my friends! The meat so tender and succulent!! Apart from this I have bought chicken thighs, wings and minced. the meat is always fresh, springy and top notch quality. Service is always on time and dispensed with a courtesy and a friendly disposition. I highly recommend MyHalal! You're missing out if you haven't tried it yet. 🙂With the assurance of consistently good quality meat, I can focus on tweaking recipes a little with other ingredients and building my confidence in crafting quality meals.
