Quality ranges from really good to inedible. My latest experience happened when I bought a whole chicken, the chicken had every bone but it's legs broken, the skin was missing in places and the odor was off. $20+ out the window. It was so flat that I initially thought it had been butterflied. On other occasions they leave way too much tallow on their beef. Some tallow is ok but when you buy ribeye for $25-30 and literally more than a third of it is fat (checked with my scale), that to me is just not acceptable. So after the latest chicken disaster I finally won't go shopping there anymore.

I have supported this place numerous times throughout the years with thousands of my hard earned money. They recently had a price hike of a couple of dollars per lb, that's okay doesn't bother me. But when I had exactly $148 on me and the price was $148.01 and I asked him is it okay if I don't have the extra cent, he sternly looked at me and said sorry I can't do that. Then his co-worker came next to him and started laughing at my shocked look. What in the actual heck. Never supporting this disgusting company again. Do better.

I’ve picked up meat here a few times when it was a convenient stop. There are options you can’t find at, say, Whole Foods, but the retail experience is disappointing. Think of the prices as Prada, but the shopping experience is Walmart or worse. Twice I got the wrong cut of meat (one beef, one pork); I overheard the butchers to the side making racist jokes on one occasion; I’ve witnessed the man behind the counter who was referred to as the manager by one of the other staff being creepy and swarmy with customers. It was all uncomfortable to overhear. I will not be going back.

The rabbit/duck sausage I had tonight was about as salty as seawater. Do they taste what they sell? The prices signal "very upscale", I wish the merchandise would catch up with it. Fifth Quarter in Montclair is in the same price bracket but noticeably higher quality, esp. the beef. Their beef stock was also the worst I ever tasted. Very thin and no meat flavor at all, and that for $12 for less than a quart. I ended up tossing it out instead of adulterating the dish.

I tried the lamb and beef from this butcher shop and you can actually tell the quality of this meat is well beyond what you can find in other places. More than that, the service was amazing. I went there to buy a whole bone-in lamb leg, plus about 20lbs worth of short-ribs. The service was amazing, they cut the ribs for me in the moment, and clean the leg too. Going there was an hour drive from home, but they'll have me visiting there again.

Great selection of stellar meats, and I found Zachary, the person running the store this afternoon, knowledgeable and helpful in my selections. For people used to mass-manufactured beef, the flavors of grass fed regional beef may come as a surprise. (Completely different animal, no pun intended) For me it was a delicious one. The ribeyes are to die for, and the one time I caught a tough steak, (happens to anyone who eats a lot of meat or has a large family that does, like I do) they immediately replaced the steak without question, and were super friendly about it. Cook's tip: Get the short rib patty or the bacon-short rib patty when available. They make a mouth-watering burger. I highly recommend this place. Also to the people critical of them here, give them a chance to make it right! They will. And, they own the LAST USDA inspected slaughterhouse in the San Francisco Bay Area. Between having my beef frozen or shipped out from 1000 miles away or more, I prefer to get mine regionally with a family owned farm, even if it does cost a little more sometimes. It's worth it. Dishonest business and bad service. We bought bone-in steak supposed to be $21.99/lbs but were instead charged $25.99/lbs boneless price. We didn't want to go back to get payment corrected because the staff was giving weird look and vibe and we didn't want to interact with him anymore.

A very inconsistent product line, I have been to their shop too many times to count over the past 3 years and all I can say is that while I am all in for local and 100% grass fed and finished meat that is treated humanly, the butcher-shop needs to improve the customer service, in terms of knowledge and lastly the quality of the products they sell. I feel that the only reason the are so mediocre is due to the lack of choices for butcher-shops in the bay area that only offer grass fed products. Many a times the lamb I bought from them tasted like mutton and the beef's fat was white and not the traditional yellow of grass fed beef nor did it have the more meaty and beefy taste typical of grass fed beef. I gave up on them and will not shop there any more. My choices are Markegards at the farmer market and Sun Fed Ranch which is offered at Nugget Markets and Andronicos.

I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad. We got a 1/4 cow, and it was AMAZING. I'm waiting now for some pork that they are cutting for me. Great customer service. Highly recommend.

The best butcher shop I've ever been to. Grass-fed/pasture-raised everything (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, eggs, organs, tallow, lard, etc) at the best prices you’ll find anywhere. Perfect for a health-focused person like me. I’ve never shopping anywhere else for meat as long as I’m living here.

Google

Excellent meat and poultry products from sustainable farms where animals are pasture-raised and treated humanely. In an ideal world. I’d be a vegan; in the real world, I am not and am grateful to Marin Farms for providing best-care animal practices.

Google

I began shopping there recently and the service is rushed even if its not crowded staff seems like their doing you a favor. I had one person that waited on me that was truly wonderful and personable. I am researching how to buy grass fed animals elsewhere and stop shopping there. The products are not as appealing I have passed up on products for that reason. I would not recommend Marin Sun because I would not like anyone I care for to be treated in a off hand manner. Its really sad.

Google

Service was definitely sub-par... lots of eye rolling and sighing as I asked for lamb chops. Same treatment for the person ahead of me for no reason whatsoever. As for the meat, lamb chops at that price should taste good, which was far from being the case. Overall, really not a great impression. I might give it another shot in the future but that place is definitely not high on my list.

Google

Real deal right here. While animals broken down daily, everything true pastured, which I'll take over organic any day (though the meat is also organic), knowledgeable, and just an outstanding product. Priced accordingly, but I'd rather eat 1/2 lb of great meat prepared with care than 1 lb of mass produced shite.

What quality butcher shop, would give you 2 large chicken thighs, and 2 tiny ones? You are ready to cook, and this is what you find in the package. In addition, this is the most expensive butcher around. Go to a quality place down the street: VerBrugge! I was saving myself an extra stop, while marketing.....Never again.

Camille did a splendid job obtaining and preparing the porchetta, which is the centerpiece of our annual holiday party. Many thanks!

Google

I love Marin Sun farms. They're sausages are delicious. Meats are always fresh.

Google

Disgusting sanitary practices. Among others, witnessed the butcher sneeze in his hand and then kept prepping the meat.

Google

quality meat, knowledgable staff and friendly butchers willing to listen to ignorant purchaser questions as well as educate i asked to explain something in a non snarky way. thanks!

Google

It's a very expensive butcher and the quality isn't that great.
