Absolutely fantastic!!! I have been to my fair share of local farms and butcher shops. As a Carnivore I have eaten beef every day for almost 2 year. Jake's County Meats is the best I have personally come across! The steaks were flavorful and tender. The ground beef was also the best burger that I have ever made, grilled or smoked... The price is reasonable for quality you are getting. Thank you for sharing with us what you take so much pride in.
Always looking for a good local farm to support and came across this one on the way back from Michigan (I'm from Chicagoland). Cute little farm with a unique purchasing system. Nobody was there to socialize (I like to talk with people about their farm) and everything is paid through honor system. They do take credit cards and it was fast and easy! Will update review once our steaks are thawed and grilled! Not much beef on the day we went, which tells me these steaks won't disappoint! Loved the metal artwork displayed (photo added)
Fantastic Local Meats, Produce, and More Jake’s Country Meats is a gem — incredible locally raised Berkshire pork and beef, plus sweet corn and other products. Their selection is huge, and they even carry flash-frozen, wild-caught Great Lakes fish. Everything is top quality, and the prices are very reasonable for what you’re getting. Well worth the stop if you’re anywhere nearby.
Great spot, the meat shed is self service. You can see the animals roaming free. Great selection, can’t wait to cook it.

I had a meat connection before we moved back home by our parents. I was so afraid that I woukd have a bad experience like my last time buying the biggest I have ever which was 1/2 but after trying samples through the Meat Store different meats I am sold that Jake's will be where I purchase our big sale next time. Thank you for wonderful eggs that are so yellow and golden tgey taste like a delicacy. Then to have the pork chops tgat were burnt badly but yet tasted so incredible! I can't wait for the next time when I grill them! It is great to know that high quality meats are only 30 mins away! Thank you again!
Roasted a whole chicken from Jake's last night, and my family and I agreed we can never go back to grocery store chicken! The breast meat was the most tender and flavorful we've ever had. Thank you to the farmers!
Found Jake’s Country Meats at Downers Grove Farmers Market and purchased some fresh eggs & honey. As soon as I got home I made some scrambled eggs and my god they were delicious! The yolks were golden and tasted so fresh! They don’t have the weird egg taste that you sometimes get from eat eggs. Will definitely be ordering again!
