Holmen Locker & Meat Market

I started taking my children to the Holmen Meat Locker for their ice cream. We would stop by now and then as their ice cream cones are absolutely delightful. I began wandering around the store with each visit until I started buying their chicken patties, summer sausage and other meats. Their beef jerky is amazing. I usually buy all their bacon Swiss cheese chicken patties when they are in stock. We have bought an assortment of their meats and other items from Holmen Meat Locker over the years. The quality of their selections seem to be better than any in the area we have tried. The staff is polite and helpful and are more than happy to give recommendations when trying new items. The prices here are reasonable and I am happy to support a local business.

We love this place! Their beef jerky is absolutely delicious. It's a tad pricey, but 100% worth it. They also have ice cream, candy, drinks, etc. If you are looking to grill good steaks, this place has it. Their selection of meats is fantastic!

0/5 for dog bones. Ive been here 2 times. Both times for dog bones. Always beef. The first time was in July and a i got a beef trachea and beef shank. My dog got super sick and was pooping diarrhea non stop for a few days where I had to take her to the vet. They said she ate something bad. For whatever reason I thought it was the trachea. I bought two more bones just this last friday for both of our dogs. We came home from chudch to see that both dogs had pooped in the house. Once again diarrhea. Took the dogs out, more diarrhea. We go to take a nap right after and, you guessed it, a quick whimper and one of the dogs had diarrhea all over the carpet yet again. Both times we purchased dog bones from here, both times dogs get sick. Not to mention both times ive had to wait at the counter for a hot minute. The same guy has checked me out both times, and he's friendly, but still doesnt compensate for sick dogs and standing at the counter looking dumb waiting to be checked out Back to sparta butcher we go.

Love this place!! A ton of local stuff for sale in the front of the store and a great selection of meats in the back half. I always get about a pound of their jerky when I go there. Totally worth it!

Great products- meat, sauces, rubs & seasonings, dips, ice cream, candy and an awesome alcohol collection off to the side. Last year we got a summer meat bundle- everything was delicious! Our kids love their "locker dogs."

The beef sticks have been my favorite for years. I always try to get up to holmen when visiting La Crosse.

Went in at 3:00 Thursday. Asked to grind up 1/2 dozen ribeyes into burger. The workers were sorting jerky in tubs. I was told the grinder was clean and would not be able to grinder the ribeyes??? Turned down a. $100 + deal to sort jerky? I drove to the Butcher in Sparta and they were happy to do this... Needless to say- 15 years of stopping ended Thursday in August 2025

This was my first time at the Holmen Locker and Meat Market! Everyone who worked there was so nice and polite! The smoked beef was delicious. I’ll definitely be back!

The best meat in the area. I am a particular fan of their beef products, all of their steaks are amazing and I've craved their jerky while away both east and west coast. Their sweet and hot jerky is superb! Their pork products are amazing as well, and they offer a nice gourmet style store with very friendly staff. For those that buy meat at Festival - The people that own it (The Skogens) do not eat meat from Festival. That should be all you need to know. When it comes to meat, there is no place like home.
