We had an amazing experience at High Pond Goat Farm! Joseph gave us a tour of the farm and showed us the goats, chickens, and pigs. We had so much fun learning about the farm and meeting the animals. Joseph was so kind and patient with us! We bought the cheese and yogurt and they are both incredible! Some of the best goat cheese we have ever had. Definitely definitely definitely visit High Pond Goat Farm if you are in the area. They also sell their products at the Rutland Farmers Market.
Here in Vermont, we are blessed with many fine cheese makers, and especially many fine goat cheese makers. High Pond only makes a few products but what they make is best in class. Everything is suffused with a fresh goat-milk taste - - offset by a perfect tanginess. No question about it, their chevre is the best in Vermont - - against some -tough- competition. We love to smear it on fresh-baked homemade foccacia, and top it with garden tomatoes, or simply on crackers with Foley Brothers beer (made only 7 miles from High Pond). And my wife and I just tried their goat milk yogurt. We are -really- picky about yogurt, because we make it ourselves. But maybe....theirs is the best yogurt I have ever eaten. We topped it with compote we make from our garden raspberries. It was heavenly.
I have bought a few items from the booth at the Rutland Farmers Market. I love the Maple Walnut Granola so much and OMG the Pumpkin Pecan bread was scrumptious. I can't wait to try the goat milk lotion and other products.
