After moving from Miami to Orlando, we were in search of a new pig farm to keep our traditional Latin pig roasts going. After searching endlessly, I came came across HertaBerkSchwein Farms. As in line with everyone else's review, Heidi is an absolute pleasure to speak with. Needless to say, we placed an order for a 50 pounder and picked up on a Friday. This was hands down one, if not the best, roasts we've made. This is an authentic review coming from a Latin whose family has cooked hundreds on pigs in our generation. We were left happy customers and we will definitely be back for!!!!

Highly recommend. Last year we made the drive from Jacksonville to get a whole roaster from here for the first time and blind. Absolutely amazing experience. Farm is super clean and a pleasure to visit. It is definitely family ran and they genuinely care for not only the animals but also the product they provide to you. Hands down this is our farm for every year Christmas Eve celebration and any other large celebration where we do a roast, it’s worth the drive.

I had to sue this Business and its owners, Heidi & Shane, for failure to perform pursuant to our agreement/contract. I drove a total of 10 hours and 424 miles with the intent of doing business long term, and they screwed me. On June 29, 2024 Heidi offered for me to participate in the culling, processing, and packaging of the product I was purchasing and I accepted. I told her I wanted fresh non-frozen product and confirmed in writing on July 4th, 2024, the day I gave the $270.00 deposit through her website. I showed up July 5th strictly to volunteer and gain rapport with them, as my ½ hog product was not being culled that day. Heidi said to come back the following Friday (July 12th, 2024) to cull my product and volunteer with whatever else she needed help with. On the 12th, post culling, Heidi insisted we meet again 4 days later (July 16th, 2024) to finish processing and packaging the product and never specified a reason, especially after saying the product I wanted only lasts a day or so in the refrigerator and doesn’t last like beef does. It makes no sense like a lot of other things they alleged after they breached our agreement. I came back 4 days later at the time specified by Heidi and no one was on site. I texted Heidi, she responds 15 minutes later saying no one is going to be there. I believe, without a doubt, they never intended on giving me the ½ hog I put a deposit on and assisted in culling because they have a big walk-in freezer full of frozen inventory cut up after USDA inspections that they cannot sell to chefs (one of the excuses they used to keep my deposit). They admit, in writing, I wanted a “fresh cut” that is a “custom order”; they also stated the product I want only lasts a day or so refrigerated, and to come back 4 days later to get it? Then, they offer to keep my product frozen until I can come get it or deliver it to me 2 ½ days after they breached our agreement. I never accepted amended terms and that would have made the refrigerated meat 6 ½ days old at that point, which is not fresh. I requested a refund several times and advised if I don’t get my deposit, we will litigate. Heidi offered a refund at this point then alleged I was threatening her. I told her to put the refund back on my card and advise when complete. Shane chimes in and says I have to deal with him from now on, then accuses me of harassing Heidi. I never received my refund. I filed a claim through my Bank and VISA, Their Response willfully and intentionally omitted facts such as their offer and my acceptance of a refund, the false accusations they made about me, and the admission of their breach to our agreement via apology for not being present. They also allege that they bent over backwards to accommodate me and even offered for me to come back to their property to get my product or have it delivered, but failed to mention they falsely accused me harassing and threatening Heidi. Check out Lake County Court House small claims cases and search for their business name, you will see all the text message evidence and I’m going to add their Response I got back from my bank in the next few days. All of this over a $270.00 deposit, which is going to cost them a lot more. After they offered me a refund and failed or refused to provide it, then lied to my bank and credit card company by omitting material facts to keep my deposit, I believe they committed petit theft and possibly fraud in the inducement due to them selling me on one product and attempting to give me another product with new terms which I never consented to, essentially a bait-and-switch.

We had an excellent experience. We enjoyed their festival and farm tour. We had two pigs processed recently and everything went very smoothly and the price was competitive. We look forward to working with them again.

This is a definitely local and authentic farm. You are welcomed by a friendly family and happy pigs 😄 it is in our community and along our favorite trail. We decide to buy meat from them every time we walk on the trail. Highly recommend it 👍 …
