Harvard Meats on Elm is a local butcher shop that offers a wide selection of meats, including beef, pork, and poultry, as well as eggs and local honey. The business focuses on providing quality meat products and personalized service to customers, although some reviews indicate mixed experiences regarding pricing and product quality. Overall, it aims to serve the community with fresh, locally sourced meats.
Love this butcher shop. They have a wide selection of meats. The have eggs and local honey. The quality of their meats can not be beat. Don't go to the grocery store, use a butcher. The staff are excellent at helping you and explaining what goes into certain things they make themselves. I only wish I would have known about them sooner!
I have only recently started purchasing from here, and they have been wonderful! Very friendly, knowledgeable, fair priced. (I love supporting a local business.) I came in Saturday asking for a specific Filet size, and they didn't have in the case, promptly went to the back and cut them. Cooked them today, and outstanding quality!!
I generally buy a quarter to a side of beef every year. I tried a few years ago and they told me they didn't sell it that way only their bundles. I spoke to a lady a month ago who said she was the owner. She made a good sales pitch and I thought I would give them a chance. Meat looks great. Looking forward to eating it. I've always gotten quality meat from Harvard meats. My complaint- I was told one total for the weight of the beef and when I got home, it was over 30 pounds less than what they told me. When I called back, the gentleman had a very dismissive attitude. Said he was trying to give me a fast number on the phone, 30 pounds is a big variance, and I was still getting a good deal. I try to support local business, but not if they're going to do business like this.
Bought the leaner ground beef. Look great at the store. When I used a lb. It looked good until I broke it up. The inside was brown. I was less then impressed.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I have gotten huge beef liver that was fresh from Harvard Meats when they were located at 15th and Harvard in Tulsa. This time I was highly disappointed. It was almost smaller than what you can get frozen from Walmart and they are pretty small. The cost was over priced for what I purchased. It wasn't fresh and it was frozen in individual wrapping inside of a package I guess that was just meant for labeling. I had originally went in there to get a list of their package deals like they use to have. They no longer have a paper print out if you want a list it is online at their website. Deliver was thinner than what you get from Walmart. I feel that they should lessen the packaging increase the amount for the amount that they charged me I paid $15 and something for something that a child could eat all of.
$6 a pound for prairie fresh ribs, overpriced $5 a pound in coweta meat shop for fresh ribs and 3.81 a pound for the same exzact ribs at Walmart
3lbs 90/10 ground beef... ZERO fat in the pan. It's definitely worth the price.
I love this place you can get a lot of meats for a good price
Picked up My Dad's Salsa. They have it in mild, medium and hot. Quarts and pints.
They quoted me $160 on a prime rib, when I arrived to pick it up they charged $270 for it. Although I am grateful they cut some off and gave me what I originally ordered. They were not happy about it and they let that be known. I was told it would be $160 when I preordered it. It was not my fault and I didn't deserve to be treated like it was.
Not real butchers. Perry’s, my go-to butcher forever, decided to Bon-ami the windows. So I’m looking for a new butcher. The egotist on 41st East of Peoria is out for personality reasons. I remembered finding nice Lamb at Harvard Meats when they were at 15th and Harvard so decided to give them a try. My first disappointment was that everything was was already cut and prepackaged, so I pretty much ruled them out. Today I pulled out a pork Tenderloin I purchased there and was shocked. First for the exorbitant price, but more so for the cut-lots of tendon and fat left on what should be a very lean piece of meat. I won’t be back. The owner’s defense below is laughable. Pork is graded U.S. No 1-4. “Prime” is a beef grade. So now we know how knowledgeable this guy is. I don’t shop at Walmart OR now Harvard meats. I’m still in the market for a REAL butcher who cuts meat to order (and knows how meats are graded).
Good quality meats but not so good butcher skills. I bought a 14 lb turkey and asked the butcher to spatchcock it and when I got it home it looked like it had been run over with a lawnmower. Good meats, poorly trained butchers and with practice they’ll figure it hopefully.
I thought it was so strange, that every time I walked in here, the employees seemed to be bothered by having to serve a customer. No worries, I thought, buying local is important to me so I’ll just order online so make it easier. I placed an order in August. It is currently October and I have not yet heard from them on when to pick up my order. I call, no one answers. I emailed, no response. $40 down the drain!
I showed up about 30 minutes before close on a last minute shopping trip. Despite that, the employees were friendly, happy to help, and were quick to answer questions I had about their sources and their products. Is the meat a bit more expensive than Walmart? Yeah, but it's much more tasty.
I didn’t even know y’all came to B. A. I used to go to your old place closer to downtown Tulsa. I really enjoyed your market but you were too far away. I’m looking for some veal shanks to make me some Osso Buco, do you sell this? Can beef shanks be used or are they too tough? I will be seeing you again now that I know where you are at.
I will say we typically love this place and get great tasting meat. Last time we were there. I ordered a lot of meat. The 10lb of chicken I didn't realize I didn't get until after getting home and the gallon of fresh milk was bad. I will say we all are people and make mistakes and it's half my fault for not checking before leaving that I received everything. The milk issue, I have gotten milk at grocery stores and got home to realize it was bad. It happens. I will just check before leaving. All in all my husband and myself love the products we get from there.
Freshest meat in town. The best cuts. Everyone is so nice.
It was my first time getting meat from a butcher & I was a lil nervous. The duo working were so kind & helpful with any questions/suggestions I had. I planned to go as a one off, but my experience was so positive I am going to regularly buy from here now! Cannot recommend enough!
My husband and I discovered this amazing meat market this week when searching for a top-notch prime rib roast. They were helpful in preparing it just as I wanted. We were so impressed that we decided to stop by this afternoon to buy bone-in pork chops and am I glad we did! I simply seasoned them and cooked them in my air fryer about 12 minutes and they were the BEST chops we’ve ever eaten. EVER! Juicy, tender, and full of flavor. We’ve ordered chops at fine restaurants before that don’t hold a candle to the ones we bought at Harvard Meats. We highly recommend this meat market. You won’t be disappointed 😋. Family run and super friendly/helpful!
Updated: is second paragraph. I posted after the owners response. They leave the bone in each ribeye adding several dollars per steak that ends up in the trash. I don’t particularly care about the bone flavor argument When three steaks cost $125. Ribeye already taste great and I have yet to find any steak house that serves bone in ribeye. I shouldn’t have to specify boneless ribeye. Never had this happen at any other butcher. Wanted to support a near by butcher. Not made of money it was a special occasion tho the steak quality was ok at best. But at $26 per pound and the bone weight I weighed is 1.44 lbs. I spent $37 on waste. The owner’s response makes it clear that they are just trying to charge the customer for waste and make a profit on something they should have thrown out. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPECIFY THAT YOU DONT WANT TO BE SOLD WASTE. After reading the owner’s response to many other negative reviews it seems they care more about being right than making things right. Reducing my rating from three starts to one.
