Harris Feeding Company, part of Harris Ranch Beef Company, is a major beef producer in the Western United States, focusing on high-quality beef production and processing. They offer a wide range of beef products, including fresh boxed beef, ground beef, and fully cooked entrees, while emphasizing animal welfare and sustainability in their operations. The company has a long-standing reputation for innovation in the beef industry, having established one of the first branded beef programs in the country.
Disgusting this is what you call the reason for poor air quality and damage to our environment! The stench from this place will make you think twice about eating meat or at least the source. I would love to see operations like this shut down and the inhumane warehouse of livestock not allowed unless the owners want to live like this then niether do the animals!!
Absolutely appalling. The conditions at Harris Ranch are nothing short of inhumane, and those disgusting people who own, operate, or support this facility should be ashamed of themselves and take a hard look at the suffering they’re complicit in. These are sentient, gentle animals, yet they’re treated with utter disregard for their wellbeing or dignity. The farm’s website paints a completely false picture. There is no visible evidence of ethical, sustainable, or humane farming here. What you see from the road alone is heartbreaking: overcrowded, filthy pens and animals living in misery. If this operation truly prioritized animal welfare or responsible agriculture, it wouldn’t be met with such widespread public condemnation. This place demands serious scrutiny and accountability. At minimum, there must be a full investigation into its practices. Better yet, it should be shut down unless it makes a radical and transparent shift toward truly ethical and sustainable operations. The current state of this facility is a disgrace.
Basically a feedlot and I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the smell and I’ve also found out that they’re almost always from LA or the Bay. If you’re from a farming area and live there then the smell probably won’t bother you that much, because I barely smell it every time I drive past on the interstate. City folks are just dramatic about the smell because they’ve never had to go near a farm that isn’t Knott’s Berry Farm. People have also consistently stated that they’re covered in their own feces and that might be true but when I’ve driven past it’s usually a plain dirt field that appears clean with plenty of cows. Triple digit temps are really only an issue during the day for about 3 or 4 months out of the year and someone else had said “most of the year” which simply isn’t true because that’s not even possible for the weather to get like that anywhere except for Death Valley. 5 stars because the feedlot does what it’s supposed too and the only people complaining are city folks who’ve never seen a cow that wasn’t on some dairy commercial.
I delivered here earlier today. The cows look happy and content. The air wasn't foul either...despite the large number of cows. The flies are annoying tho. Staff is friendly. Unloading is fast
Absolutely cruel to see hundreds of cows just standing and laying in dirt and only some of them have shade while others have to stand under the summer heat/sun all day. I wish CA did not have ranches and farms like this… only small farms where animals are treated better and have grass to eat and lay in.
So many times we've driven past this feedlot and so many times I've cried. This is straight up cruel and wrong on so many levels! These cows are knee deep in their own excrement and urine. They are crowded in pens with little to no room. The smell burns my eyes and nose driving by, I can't imagine trying to live in it. I don't even want to think about the environmental impacts. This is factory farming, and I'd like to say "at its worst", but I know there are worse out there. There is a COMPLETE lack of humanity here. It's disgusting, inhumane, and irresponsible. Greed in one of its many forms in our society. This is wrong and unsustainable. Please don't support this brand!
I love that when you go to their website it shows cows grazing in grass but if you’ve ever been to the farm there isn’t a blade of grass within 150 miles.
Inhumane way of keeping animals and whoever works there will get their karma. Cows have at most 1 feet of open space between them or no SPACE AT ALL. Bet u the animals that keep this “farm” running look exactly how you’d expect them to look.
Breaks my heart 💔 into pieces seeing how these cows are living. They all look so depressed. It’s horrific. We need new laws to protect the welfare of these animals. They deserve to at least have the dignity to live a good life. Cows love shade, enrichment and kindness. Shame on this Farm Factory Practice for cramping millions of cows like sardines in the heat. California please make New Laws for these Cows. Please! Anyone that has the power to make changes.
Just drove by this place and P.U !!! OMG the smellllll is truly unbearable . I saw a review that said the air wasn’t foul, and with that statement I know that was a fake review bc it’s so bad it’ll make your eyes water as you’re driving by. I would never want to buy any meat from somewhere that smells like that, can’t be any good.
