Grundhofer's Old Fashion Meats

Good quality but I don't recommend them. I used to come here every few weeks, now it's just once a year. I was the only customer in there yet there were 8 employee vehicles parked on the side of the lot. As a regular guy, I can't pay $10.22 after tax for a 6-pack of brats. Cut your overhead so us citizens can get fair prices. Otherwise I'll keep buying 90% of my brats at Walmart.

Great staff! I walked in there for the first time, not knowing what to expect and went right to the counter. The young man there was extremely helpful, showing me a list of all of their meats, and he even circled some of his favorites for me to try. I bought 3 different flavors because I couldn’t decide. I left there feeling so excited and knowing that I will be back to get more Brats again very soon. Such a unique place. definitely worth a visit.

We have been coming here for years, ever since their Gummi bear brats were featured on the local news. It is perfect to stop by while driving to the cabin for the weekend. The staff are friendly and efficient/fast getting you checked out. Their turkey jerky is perfection, moist, flavorful, and in 2 or 3 varieties usually. The refrigerators with the brats are stocked with dozens of flavors, pizza, cheddar, bacon, jalapeno, and of course Gummi bear which is delicious (you must try them). And of course there are steaks, chicken, bison, venison, and so much more. The peanut butter chocolate squares they sell in plastic tubs by the cash register are so good!

I wish I could give Grundhofers 10 stars! Amazing meat market! Burgers, steaks, sausage, fresh meats, butcher packs, but the absolute best... THE BRATS!!! OMG Grundhofer's doesn't just make brats. They make Sausage Gifts From Heaven! So many flavors, I know well over 100. Try the Feta Cheese and Spinach. My God...amazing. I'm working my way through them all, I'm about 35% done I'd say. NOW...buckle up. Controversy ahead!!! I LIVE IN WISCONSIN! And I drive to Minnesota for brats. That's on par with blasphemy! Shhhhhh Go to Grundhofer's. TRUST ME! P.S. every employee I've ever met is awesome too. Helpful, friendly, courteous. Awesome

To celebrate my move to the Northern Burbs, I thought I'd get some great food from Grundhofers. So on June 28, 2025 I stopped by to get some extra thick pork chops, blueberry and wild rice brats, some beef sticks and a 1 lb container of potato salad. Got the grill fired up later that afternoon and the following day, and everything cooked up beautifully. The pork chops were juicy and flavorful, and the brats were outstanding. I live less than 2 miles from Grundhofers now, and I suspect I'll be a regular weekly customer. It's a great small town butcher shop with fair and reasonable pricing.

I sent multiple hogs to different markets- all in the same timeframe, same batch of hogs, and for some reason all the meat that came back from Grundhofer's was disgusting. It was not my hog. I can tell, I did a taste test with chops. My hogs are raised in the woods. I can taste the concrete floor in the hog I was given from Grundhofer's. I will never go here again and advise my friends and neighbors, as well as those who ask for advice, to find a different butcher. I swear on my mama's life- that was not my hog. The rest from other butchers in the batch were the same (given differences in spices for those items that are spiced and smoked) but the pork chops where what I compared. That meat from this butcher was gross. The rest of the chops from various butchers were all the same. All prepared the same. I can't say it enough- it was not my hog. My hogs do not have a gross after taste. Now the taste, that fact of the matter on the farmer who raises them, so clearly this butcher had nothing to do with how it was raised. But I do know that the hog I delivered to Grundhofer's was NOT the one I brought home. 🤢

The aroma of spiced meat when you walk into the store is amazing! There is truely a massive selection of creative brats. They have every cut of meat you can imagine. One of my friends brought Grundhofers to a bonfire and I had to get the sausages for myself. I get a little overwhelmed by choices but the staff was super helpful in suggesting their best sellers. I'm so excited to try the gummy bear brat!

I promised the owner that I would periodically post about his poor customer service as I will try to steer people away from this place. go to FLICKER MEATS or ANGUS MEATS. This incident happened many years ago. I like to patron a local business and as long as I was paying top dollar for meat, he seemed happy. After a few years in business, they decided to have a CUSTOMER APPRECIATION weekend with pretty good deals on select meats. My mother happened to be in town from New York and my brother just moved close so I brought them in. Long story short we bought everything and spends hundreds. This is after the big fat guy (owner) demanded coupons from each of us. we went to city hall to get them. when I asked the nice young lady behind to counter if they could wrap some in butcher paper to last longer in the freezer, he blew a gasket in front of other customers. He stated his frustration with me bringing in other customers. He chose the wrong guy because I let him have it and explained to him that it was obvious that he did not want to share these deals with people. I told him that he should be out front shaking peoples hands and thanking folks for not only coming in BUT bringing potential future customers. l mentioned I will never come in again and will warn people of his horrible attitude. funny thing is, he probably remembers this and will respond with some snide comments to try and save face. That should give you apicture of this guy. Its a good thing my little New York Italian mother was already outside waiting for me. He would not have survived that verbal assault!! After reading others poor reviews, it seems this guy hasn't learned much. folks, other places with better quality products and service is what you should take from this.

Came here as I heard about the many flavored brats so had to check it out. There were so many different items it was hard to choose! Decided on sour cream and onion, loaded nacho fries and dill pickle cheese curd . Also got some seasonings for burgers. Although we just came here for the brats, I saw lots of other amazing looking meats. The bacon looked delicious! I’ll be coming back to try more things!

Stopped in Sunday they recommended tri tip smoked and sliced thin for sandwiches game day. we did 1)smoked 2 tri tip a) with a black seasoning. b) with a butter seasoning. cooked to medium rare " that is the way i like it" I did do a quick sear to medium well for the people in the group that like it well done every one dressed their sandwiches the way they like. also did mashed mashed potato fries. thanks Grundhofer's best game day sandwiches ever. never been disappointed coming here since they opened.
