Less than a decade ago, much of this land consisted of agricultural crop fields. It has relatively recently been converted into a native Illinois prairie ecosystem, which allows more room for native wildlife in our area to thrive. I just visited this forest preserve for the first time recently. Despite all the plants being dormant in the middle of February, the landscape still looked very scenic. I also spotted a few unique birds as well, such as the elusive red-headed woodpecker. This is already one of my new favorite forest preserves and I definitely recommend this place if you love nature and the outdoors.
Love this place. We did a bird of prey program for the girl scouts.

Beautiful place to walk and the prairie flowers spectacular. Trails are great but not yet clearly marked. For now take a picture of the map on the sign board.
A fantastic location. It has undergone some amazing changes in the last few years. It now boasts some fantastic wetlands. Come out during the summer and check them out from the paths!
The farm hosted a fundraiser for a local dog shelter. It was a great day.
