I've never been to a real butcher outside of the local grocery store and I have to say this place was awesome. First off Zack was incredibly helpful with the 107 questions that I had. I showed up right before they closed and never felt rushed. The two things I came in for were the jalapeno bacon, which I recently tried at a barbecue and it is the best bacon I've ever had, and tallow. I picked up some fat to render for beef tallow. They didn't have any suet which is okay because I'm just getting started anyway but when Zack check to see if they had any they said they did not however they went ahead and cut some for me right there while I waited which was super awesome. I will definitely be coming back to try some things in the future. Obviously the price is a little higher than what you're going to get at the local grocery store but that's because the quality is definitely better. They also have aged steaks which I definitely want to try at some point long story short definitely give this place a shot if you want variety and quality
This place was hoppin' on Saturday afternoon! We took that as a good sign for our visit here. Good selection of fresh (and some aged!) meats. Wish they had more packs of frozen steaks or burger to buy, but we're happy with what we got today, including some elk and venison we've been looking for.
This place is awesome. The meat is always good. Grocery stores are very spotty in terms of quality, but Gilbert Butchery always delivers. 100% consistency. They are one of the few places that carry dino ribs. I've also had ribeyes, carne asada, tri tip, and ground beef from here. Top notch quality and great service.
We've been coming here for a while and we've never had a bad experience or purchased subpar meats. The team is also super knowledgeable and can help you figure out how much to get for a certain number of people. The difference in quality between this butcher and grocery meats is astounding, can't recommend them enough!
Just picked up our Christmas Day prime rib roast. Smooth easy process from start to finish. Convenient online ordering. Our roast was ready on the requested pick up day and was accurate. We bought a 3-rib, bone removed then tied back on for roasting, and also pre-seasoned with their dry rub. You won’t know the actual cost until you pick it up. Weight will vary from roast to roast. The online order process requires a non-refundable deposit of only $40. Balance due at time of pick up. Our roast final weight came in at just over eight and a half pounds. We went with the high choice grade cut for $23.99 per pound. Nicely marbled but not fatty at all. Pick up was well organized and speedy. The place was packed this morning. Didn’t matter. In and out in just minutes.
There are a lot of products inside other than meat. There's some seasoning (sauces and dry rubs). This is the place to get high end quality meats. They make their own sausages, and are of good quality. They are also aging their meats which you can see in the fridge. Their beef is from ranches in Minnesota and chicken, if I heard right, is from Georgia. A lot of good stuff.
They pulled the hide the steaks where the customer can’t see what they are packing instead of showing me with pride. Congrats you got me. Steaks were $33 plus a lb and when I got them home I found that many of them were starting to turn brown. Left one in fridge all brown the next morning. Unacceptable. You lost me.
The Gilbert Butchery has been on my foodie radar since moving to Gilbert a little over two years ago. We decided to preorder a de-boned tie-on prime rib roast for Christmas dinner. As soon as we walked in the shop we were met with the amazing smokey scent of their homemade beef jerky being made in back. After we placed our order we walked around the shop. I noticed that they had bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, so that went down. Can’t wait to try them. One shelf in particular which displayed their seasonings, rubs, and sauces immediately caught my eye as we were leaving. I had to pickup one of their spicy seasonings and a jar of hot salsa to add to my collection. Their staff is extraordinarily friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and engaging. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!!
This place is close to my house and I feel so lucky. Their meat is such good quality and the variety is outstanding. I love that they offer Sabrett hot dogs, sauerkraut, onions and mustard. I also love that offer a meat mixture of beef, veal and pork for my meatballs. They carry food and treats for pets! If you haven't been here, you need to come check it out! The staff is super knowledgable and helpful.
Very frustrated by the poor customer service. I called today asking them if I could bring my elk to get processed. They told me they were very busy but would squeeze me in. I let them know I was heading down from Strawberry and wouldn’t be able to make it until 4:15. The gentleman on the phone said it was no problem, they would be there processing other people’s wild game, and if I just knock on the back door, they would open up for me. His words were, “we’ll get you set up.” When I showed up, a different guy said I should have arrived before 4 and that he couldn’t help me. I said, the other guy I talked to said he would get me taken care of if I arrived at 4:15. His response was, “I’d have to move stuff around and it’s a hassle so you need to come back Tuesday. I asked, “can I talk to the guy that told me it’s ok?” His response, “he’s right here but my back room team is gone and I’d have to move stuff. Keep it until Tuesday.” I know they don’t care, but I don’t have the space to store a whole elk, now it’s an emergency on my part. The decision for them to honor what they told me could have been made very easily if they were concerned about me as the customer.
Excellent service and selection. The steak tips are genuinely a stand out. We also love their brats, and pepper chicken. The store gets busy but the line moves fast.
Love the cuts of beef and varieties, including the brats and sausages. Would of given it 5 but have yet to taste any of the items purchased. Wanna try some of the wagyu cuts and the holy grail tomaha hawk steak.
A awesome butcher shop has finally come to Gilbert. This shop is a little hard to see from the road the the awesome food, and friendly staff make it worth the visit. …
Very friendly and welcoming staff. First time visit. Burgers were very good. I'll go again to try the steaks.
Favorite butcher in all of Phoenix. I drive from north Scottsdale just to get steak here! They have all sorts of hard to find cuts! Give them a call they will work it out for you! …
This is the only butchery I ever go! I drive a hour just because they have the best selection of all meats! If you haven't been yet,you won't be disappointed! If a 10 star option was available they would definitely get it!
Absolutely love the service and the meats!! We load up every Sunday and the steaks and chicken (also everything else) is better than most restaurants meats. The team behind the counter definitely have a great system and they all seem to work quickly and flawlessly no matter how busy it gets
We just began trying out this place. The meat here is priced higher than at a large chain grocery but worth it. Everything we have tried has been very good. Try their chorizo, you won't regret it.
Gorgeous meats, great selection and lovely service! When you want a fancy steak and a decadent twice-baked potato, this is the place to go. …
This is one of the best meat markets around! We go there regularly, but ordered a Bison whole ribeye to make prime rib from, had them bacon wrap it by the way.... this is the pre-game, before it goes on the charcoal rotisserie, more picks to come of the game.
