Every experience I've had here has been very positive except the most recent one. My wife wanted some salmon but we've been out for awhile so we picked up some king, wild caught salmon. This was the first time being seafood from Egger's Better Meats. When we went to cook it we discovered the pin bones hadn't been pulled. I'm not a complainer but for $35/lb... come on.
A great meat store. Love going there. Picked up chicken breasts, pork chops, steaks, ground beef, and some pretty great looking cooked shrimp. The service is good and the people are friendly.
Egger's Better Meats is a carnivore's paradise! The quality of their meat is unmatched, and their selection of fresh cuts, sausages, and jerky is incredible. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to offer a recommendation. It's a bit pricey, but the quality is well worth it.
Eggers is a great place to take your animals to, they have great customer service, they are extremely nice and always do an amazing job with my Deer. I have brought 3 deer to them the last 2 years, 1 last year and 2 this year and never had an issue. I will continue to bring my game to them!
The most diverse and quality meat selection in town. Try their jerky of course it is amazing! Staff is always great at making suggestions. Love do sing the just American Dessert options as well!
Great quality meats and excellent service! Picked up my first ever fresh ham, I had a lot of questions about cooking and seasoning. They answered all of them and even printed the answers on labels they put on the packaging so I wouldn't forget. The ham was slightly too large for my traeger so I brought it back in and they cut it to my specifications and repackaged it so my in laws would never know. These guys will set you up for success for any occasion, highly recommend!
I’ve shopped at Eggars for many years. Coming from Omaha Nebraska where Omaha Steaks and Kansas City meat and chicken are renowned I’ve never been disappointed in anything I’ve purchased from Eggars, which is saying a lot!! Great local butcher and terrific family!
Great butcher with diverse selection. You pay a bit more for much better quality. Try their Waygu offering if it's in stock for a memorable meal.
My wife loves a very occasional bologna sandwich. I was a meat cutter, owned a locker plant for many years, back in the olden days, and we know quality meats. I make our salami, various sausages, wieners, bacon, age our beef ribs and loins, etc., etc. For my wife's birthday, we drove over 30 minutes to the Eggers nearest us and bought a pound of bologna. We thought. While we were there, I asked the young man serving us what kind of fish it was that was mounted on the wall behind us. He didn't know, so he asked one of the meat cutters behind him. "Mackerel" the fellow answered, without a wink or a smile. I've caught numerous species of mackerel, and a fair number of various species of salmonoid. That was not a mackerel, but some species of trout. I'm sure the fellow was amused at himself and how clever he was to make the old guy out to be a fool. We got home and made the bologna sandwiches. It wasn't bologna. I told my wife it was salami, and was a very poor salami at that. She thought maybe it was their version of what the package said, "Old fashioned bologna." She ate a few more slices before she started thinking I was right. She took the remaining half pound back. The young man recognized her right away and apologized. This time an older man oversaw him and explained that the young man was new and just learning. (Why didn't the clever guy that didn't know a trout from a mackerel correct the young man the first time?) So, they took back the remaining half pound of "salami" and gave her a pound of actual bologna. Why did they take back the half pound of salami? Why not give it to her? Were they going to put it back in the counter? Better not get caught doing that! Were they going to eat it themselves? Very unlikely. The proper thing to do would be to give it to the customer. They couldn't use it anyway, and would just toss it in the trash. In this case the customer would have tossed it, but at least it would have been a gesture. You guessed it, we would never again darken the doorway of an Eggers "Better Meats and Seafood." Their bologna wasn't bad, but their salami is inferior, and they apparently, either don't know a mackerel from a trout, or enjoy making fun of their customers. Lee O'Hara
