Double D Bar Ranch Inc is a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing abused and neglected farm animals, founded by Gay and Rich DeVoe. The ranch serves as a haven for various farm animals, providing them with care and a nurturing environment, while also advocating for their humane treatment. The business focuses on animal welfare rather than selling products.
Double D Bar Ranch is a remarkable sanctuary that provides a haven for abused and neglected farm animals. Founded by the compassionate husband-and-wife duo Gay and Rich DeVoe, the ranch has become a beacon of hope under Rich's steadfast leadership following Gay’s tragic passing. Rich's unwavering commitment to the animals reflects his compassion and dedication to their well-being. Recently, the sanctuary faced significant challenges when the Suffolk County Police Department's unit, known as "The Beast," approached with an aggressive stance. This incident highlighted a lack of understanding of the compassionate mission that drives Rich and the sanctuary. It’s crucial to address these misunderstandings, as they can cause unnecessary harm during emotionally difficult times, especially for someone like Rich, who is navigating profound grief. District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney's press conference further complicated the situation by casting doubt on Rich's integrity and the sanctuary’s reputation. Such actions stress the importance of responsible communication and fairness, particularly when addressing vulnerable individuals and organizations. Our community must recognize the impact of these narratives and work towards a more constructive dialogue. There is hope for resolution. The legal system is beginning to correct past mistakes with decisions that may allow the animals to return to the sanctuary, provided their previous owners agree to surrender them. We are dedicated to facilitating this process to restore the animals to a place of love and care. The well-being of the animals at Double D Bar Ranch speaks for itself. Photos and videos show them thriving in a nurturing environment, including interactions with Lucky, a gentle giant who embodies the sanctuary's spirit. Supporting Double D Bar Ranch is an opportunity to advocate for compassion, resilience, and the humane treatment of all animals, fostering a community that cherishes these values. Together, we can ensure that this sanctuary continues to be a place of hope and healing for animals and people alike.
An amazing place that rescues all types of farm animals. Always looking for help and volunteers. I just finished building a new chicken coop.
Rich has a heart ❤️ of gold. Never turned an animal away. He and his wife opened DD originally to help abused and neglected animals.. he's now 86 years old and relies on the help of others. He had a horse 41 years old. Most horses never live that long. Yes the horse looked emaciated, but he was cared for and was loved..he was just old. I wonder how most 98 yr old men look..the state euthanized the horse. I have know rich over 20 years. He loves the animals and his heart is golden..shame on everyone who instead of stepped up to help, stepped on him and took away his farm...we love you Rich and we're grateful for all you have done in 30 years for all these beautiful animals!!!! NO one cares no one donates time except a few people... Double D..because his nickname was dr Doolittle. He talks to the animals. Shame on all the animal (humans) who instead of helping...devastated him..
Amazing place full of many different rescue animals. Owners are kind and pleasant to speak with.
Really nice folks. I had a rooster and we just wanted to avoid anyone getting the town involved. Very grateful they took him in and I feel good knowing he'll live a very good life. Thank yall for taking care of my Domino.
If you love farm animals this sanctuary is a must visit. They truly cherish the animals here.
I rescued a rooster Hebert and raised him for 2 years. Found him injured and nursed him back to health. New neighbors moved and had the town involved . Had to find a home. Called many places only double d ranch was willing to take Rooster in and gave him a second chance . Thank you
I found a chicken roaming the streets in East Meadow, Nassau county. I said a prayer and came across this place. So many places turned me down except for Richard. He told me to bring the chicken in. It was heart warming to see there are still people in the world who are willing to sacrifice for these wonderful animals who truly are a gift from God to us. Thank you Richard, Gianna and I are so grateful for your animal sanctuary. Cant wait to visit again!
I’ve been there personally a few times. The owners really are genuine true animal lovers and love their animals. It’s a lot of work and have a few volunteers. I donate to them often. If everyone could donate a couple dollars to help these animals please do.
If I could give a minus rating I would. Thank god this place has finally been taken down and hopefully all the animals will finally get the homes and care they need .
