Bonner Heritage Farm is a historical site located within McDonald Woods Forest Preserve, offering visitors a glimpse into the agricultural history of the area. The farm features several preserved buildings and provides educational resources about its historical significance, but it primarily serves as a recreational space for hiking and nature observation. The farm does not appear to focus on selling products, but rather on preservation and education.
Had a nice walk around the grounds of the farm. Everything is padlocked, so wasn't able to enter any of the buildings. Had some signs with historical facts about the people that lived there and what each building was used for. Parking lot nearby and doesn't cost anything to park or walk around.
Fantastic for toddlers, but currently limited in function due to pandemic as of 8/2020. Adjacent to Millennium Park, which is awesome in it's own right (nice playground, socially distanced picnic tables before that was a thing, etc), this place normally has plenty to entertain and contain a <5 year old. There is a small loop with bird viewing stations and all the flora of a typical forest preserve (if you're looking for a longer walk, McDonald's Woods has a community entrance a few blocks down). The farm is nice to look at and has some historical info posted but is not viewable inside. There is a nice play area (currently closed) with a water/sand station, tractor, and just places to run/hide. Even with this being closed, there are some other fun areas with "farm animals" (large metal cutouts perfect for banging on).
The guides were so knowledgeable. They made the tour very enjoyable. Learned so much about the Bonner family.
A great place for a walk
This farm is located on park district land. We could not enter most buildings, and the few we could were not significant historical buildings or sections.
It was not quite what was expected but it was nice . The kids had fun looking at all the metal sculptures.
Great place for kids!!!
