5T Ranch Mini Cows is a family-owned mini Highland cattle ranch in Nevada that specializes in breeding, raising, and selling miniature Highland cows and other unique livestock, including Nigerian Dwarf goats. The primary purpose of the business is to provide charming and gentle miniature cattle as pets or companions for hobby farms and suburban settings. They also offer farm visits and photography opportunities, enhancing the experience of owning these animals.
5T Ranch combines over 30 years of alfalfa and cattle-raising experience with a passion for miniature livestock. The Tompkins family (a husband-wife team with three children) raises Mini Highland cows, HighPark cattle, and Nigerian Dwarf goats using ethical farming practices. Animals are socialized from birth, vet-checked, and raised with a hands-on approach in clean, dry shelters. Breeding prioritizes health, temperament, and lineage to produce gentle, well-socialized cattle.
The ranch sells Mini Highland calves (36–44 inches tall), HighPark cattle, and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Prices vary by breed, genetics, and sex, with mid-sized Mini Highlands starting at $6,000 for bulls/steers and $8,000 for heifers. Chondro-positive calves (smaller stature) range from $8,000 to $10,000. All animals are raised with strong bloodlines and are ready for hobby farms, suburban ranchettes, or as pets.
Located at 7801 Lakeside Dr, Reno, NV 89511, the ranch offers scenic photo sessions for engagement shoots, maternity photos, and family portraits. Buyers are invited to visit for in-person meetings or to explore available calves. Contact details: (775) 720-0931 or email [email protected]. Follow @5t_minicows on Instagram for updates.
Interested buyers can: 1) Contact via the website’s contact form or email, 2) Check available calves on the ranch’s website, and 3) Explore breed-specific pages (e.g., 5T Bulls and 5T Females). The ranch provides guidance on raising calves, including nutrition, pasture management, and socialization.
5T Ranch emphasizes family, trust, and care. Every animal is treated as part of the Tompkins family until they join a new home. The ranch supports buyers with resources on raising mini cows, including land requirements (½–1 acre per cow) and sustainable practices. Their commitment to quality breeding ensures animals thrive in diverse climates and management styles.

We had a fantastic experience visiting the farm. We decided to try something new in the Reno area for my wife's birthday and found the farm online. They great at communicating when rescheduling due to weather. The farm and family are extremely welcoming. The entire experience was unique and we had a blast petting, brushing, and feeding the cows and goats. Great pictures and everlasting memories. I would highly recommend for a new fun experience.
